i) Clean skimmers

You can try to empty the skimmer baskets as many as you want but this will depend on the amount of debris trapped inside. This is because the skimmers will operate well if they do not have a lot of debris.

ii) Removing debris

Once you notice any insects, leaves and other kinds of debris floating on the surface of the pool, you can try removing them using a long-handled pool skimmer. It is good that you try removing them before they sink to the bottom of your pool.

If there are any other debris around the pool you can try collecting and disposing of them properly. This will prevent them from being blown by the wind into the pool.

iii) Checking water levels

Normally pool water will accumulate when it rains and also evaporate during sunny days. Therefore, you should conduct a daily check to determine if the pool has the right water level. The level of water is expected to remain at the midpoint of the skimmer.

Weekly maintenance

i) Vacuum

You can try to vacuum your pool at least every week so that you can remove any debris which might have sunk to the bottom of the pool.

ii) Brushing the pool

You can use a pool brush in brushing the bottom and sides of the pool. It is good that you do the brushing towards the main drain for easy vacuuming of debris or sediments.

iii) Shock

iv) Checking the filter

Filters are very important to any pool as they assist in trapping small debris and particles, therefore keeping pool water clean. v) Checking for chemicals levels

The best pH is 7.5 but if you a small deviation of about 0.1 it is still okay. On the other hand, chlorine levels should be around 2 to 4 PPM.

Calcium hardness usually depends on the hardness of the water. It should be between 150 to 250 ppm.

Alkalinity– It should be between 80 to 120 ppm. In this case, you can use muriatic acid to decrease the alkalinity and also use sodium bicarbonate to increase it.

Monthly maintenance

Inspect all safety equipment

You should inspect the diving boards, handrails, ladder and other equipment to ensure that they are in good condition and properly attached.
